Announcement of U.S. Renewable Energy Goal a “Welcome Step” – EDF
“With the announcement today of a new national renewable energy goal of 20 percent by 2030, President Obama has once again pointed the way toward a cleaner energy future. While an even more ambitious goal is surely attainable – the Department of Energy’s landmark Wind Vision Report found that wind alone could meet the President’s new goal, and 51 percent of new U.S. electric generating capacity came from solar in the first quarter of this year – it is a welcome step. Now Congress and industry should take up the President’s challenge and do their part to accelerate U.S. leadership in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”
